Altis Recruitment is grateful to partner with our client in the Broader Public Sector to recruit an Academic Coordinator for a contract position based in New Westminster, BC. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating academic processes, supporting faculty and students, and ensuring smooth operation of departmental services. This contract position runs until the end of August, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Accessibility Services, Academic team, and Test Centre.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate exams.
- Liaise with instructors and students regarding exam logistics, accommodations, deferrals, and remediation tracking
- Check and manage exam accommodation settings and ensure compliance with accessibility requirements
- Respond to inquiries from faculty, staff, and students in a timely and professional manner
- Develop and deliver communications to various stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff
- Update and maintain documentation and records related to academic services and departmental operations
- Schedule, organize, and attend department meetings; prepare and distribute agendas, take minutes, and ensure follow-up actions are completed
- Assist with entering and maintaining payroll information
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the department
Qualifications
- Experience in an academic administrative or similar environment
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with office software (e.g., MS Office Suite, scheduling tools, learning management systems)
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
