The City of Delta is looking for auxiliaries in our Animal Shelter Attendant position. This position requires exceptional customer service skills and the ability to interact with the public, in addition to a passion for animals. These are auxiliary/casual opportunities with no guarantee of weekly hours. In addition, employees will be required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Feed, handle, and care for animals
  • Clean kennels and cages,
  • Carry out routine facility cleaning and maintenance,
  • Perform routine clerical tasks.
  • May be required to administer routine medical treatments and handle animals with a range of different temperaments.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with animals is preferred
  • Courses in veterinary assistance, animal behaviour and/or training is preferred
  • Class 5 BC Driver's Licence
  • Ability to form excellent working relationships with volunteers and the public

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary $31.28 - $36.74 (commensurate with experience) plus 12% in lieu of vacation leave, benefits, and statutory holidays.
