About The Role

Supervised by: Community Support Team Lead

Location: 1520 Queen St. E., Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A 2G4

Supervises: None

Wages: $17.60

Duration of employment: 8 weeks (June 1-Aug 24)

Anticipated start date: June 1, 2026

Responsibilities

Primary Function:

  • Assist in data analysis, including data cleaning, processing, and visualization.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing research findings.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders involved in the project (e.g., Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association).
  • Attend regular supervisory and NORDIK Team meetings.
  • Attend regular supervisory and NORDIK Team meetings.
  • Attend in professional development training and activities provided by NORDIK.

Qualifications

  • Youth preferred (under 30)
  • The candidate should possess a degree in History, Indigenous Studies, Political Science, or related fields.
  • Ability to work onsite (this is not remote position)
  • Demonstrated experience working alongside survivors of Indian Residential School or other trauma-facing demographics
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Experience in survey data analysis and familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analysis software
  • Knowledge of research methods in the social sciences
  • Experience with GPR, LiDAR and analytical software
  • Experience performing community engagement work
  • Familiarity with computer word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications and videoconferencing applications (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom, or WebEx)
  • Knowledge of Northern Ontario communities and context
