Job Description

Principles of Operation: Develops relationships with Area partners to create and deliver products and solutions designed to fulfill Area objectives. (This level is normally for Areas that are considered medium in size and, have maturing and less complex publishing and translation needs.)

Purpose: To ensure that Area publishing needs are met and satisfy Area needs in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and in supporting Church members and local leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the primary contact to ensure that the Area's essential publishing needs are met in a simple and affordable way
  • Leads the resources to provide publishing solutions that deliver value to the Areas
  • Functions as the creative/publishing advisor utilizing the best practices to help the Area achieve their desired results, and oversees the Content Publishing Process within the Area
  • Manages the Area translation resources
  • May manage independent contractors, vendors, and volunteers in the accomplishment of product deliverables
  • May manage the relationship with independent contractors and vendors including the measurement of work quality, sourcing and negotiation with new resources, and the termination of contracts
  • Works with initiating departments to understand and implement product strategies and deliverables in alignment with Area plans
  • Responsible for the Area's annual planning of Publishing products including budget forecasting, resource planning, and timelines
  • Liaison between Area and Publishing Services HQ resources

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (advanced technical or business degree preferred)
  • Minimum 6 years (prefer 8+ years) of work experience managing in a publishing production environment or related field
  • Relevant and specific degrees, certifications, and licenses
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven bility to negotiate at all organizational levels
  • Proven ability to execute business planning, strategy, vision, and inductive and deductive reasoning
  • Proven ability to solve complex business and process problems, including the formulation and implementation of effective solutions
  • Track record of leading essential and diverse business functions, as well as internal and external relationship management
  • French language capability a plus

Additional Employment Criteria

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship
  • Must be able to reside in Calgary, Alberta, while employed in this role
