The Role

AMD’s Graphics Technologies and Engineering (G&E) Methodology team is seeking a highly motivated ASIC Physical Design Engineer to develop and refine cutting-edge design flows for next-generation silicon products. In this role, you will drive innovations in physical design methodologies, leverage machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLM) to enhance automation, and collaborate with global engineering teams to optimize performance and efficiency.

The Person

We are looking for a problem solver with a passion for innovation and a strong technical background in ASIC physical design. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, possesses strong analytical and communication skills, and is eager to tackle complex engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance and optimize design flows for floor planning, synthesis, place & route, static timing analysis, IR drop analysis, and physical verification in cutting-edge semiconductor technologies
  • Develop and integrate machine learning (ML) and large language model (LLM) applications into physical design workflows
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends and improve design efficiency
  • Customize and implement solutions to address new and evolving design challenges
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, multi-site engineering teams to achieve project milestones


Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience in ASIC Physical Design and/or CAD development for place & route, timing analysis, or physical verification
  • Proficiency in Python and scripting for automation
  • Knowledge of machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLM) applications
  • Experience with data analytics applications and database management


Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
