How You Will Contribute

Responsible for coding, testing, verification, and maintenance. Capable of implementing significant portions of code based upon well-defined requirements, adhering to established standards of quality for documentation, coding and testing. Interacts well in a group, requiring some direction from manager and senior team members. Able to identify and act upon issues and problems that arise. We are looking for a software engineer to help develop Ciena’s next generation network elements workflow simulator tools with the use of PlannerPlus and various simulators available.

The Must Haves

• Working towards a B.S. in Computer Science or related field
• Proficiency with Windows, macOS, or Linux. Knowledge of more than one platform preferable.
• Knowledge or proficiency in Web app development.
• A solid understanding of python and Internet technologies.
• Conversant about database methodologies and database systems an advantage.
• Willingness to learn new platforms, framework and technology as needed.
• A solid understanding of Ciena Planner Plus and relevant debugging techniques.
• Experience in applying knowledge of good coding practices and fundamental computer science principles.
• Ability to work in a team and take direction well.
• Self-motivated and responds to supervision. Asks relevant questions.
• Enthusiastic about company and programming company products.
• Can independently plan tasks and estimate their completion.
• Can adapt to changing conditions.
  
  

Pay Range: The hourly pay range for this position is $24.50 - $33.00

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
