We are currently seeking for an HR Generalist responsible for supporting the HR Team and employee across the organization. The position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day HR operations, ensuring a positive and compliant workplace.
Reporting to the HR Operational Excellence Manager, this person’s key areas of focus include Payroll support, HRIS support, benefits administration, HR communications, employee guidance on policies and programs. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about fostering a strong workplace culture. What would be your main responsibilities as a HR Generalist ? :
HR General Support
- Act as main point of contact for employees on general inquiries from our policies and programs
- Stay abreast of new Legislation in various provinces and inform team of any up-coming changes
- Assist to interpret, advise and educate employees on various HR policies
- Assist in the developing, updating and implementing all HR policies and procedures
- Provide HR administrative support and perform special projects as assigned
- Assist in preparing HR communications for Employee Experience Platform
- Create various HR employee letters; confirmation of employment, benefits support)
- Update content on employee experience portal regarding benefits, pensions, and wellness
- Revie monthly invoices: verification and processing with finance/accounting team
- Enter eemployee’s personal information changes in various vendor/provider systems
- Enter RPP, RRSP, TFSA and/or 401k, 401k Roth in HRIS system based on reports
- Provide on-going support with access and passwords for our Wellness Portal
- Submitting on a weekly basis inbound file to our Wellness portal provider
- Tracking benefits payments during leave of absence and communication to employees/retirees as needed
- Assist employee with general benefits questions and help complete employee enrolments
- Enter in a timely manner at each pay, disability time off requests for employees
- Assist in the completion of disability forms send to third party provider
- Enter various transactions in Dayforce and assist in detecting inaccuracies
- Assist employees with general questions on self-serve features
- Participate in implementation of new features and modules
- Assists in the development of user guides/workflows and provides training to new users
- Review Time Off request of employees and ensure they are approved in timely manner
- Support the HR team in entering transactions into the system on a regular basis and adjust as required, detecting and reconciling any discrepancies
- Assist in generating monthly or quarterly workforce analytics reports: turnover, headcounts, recruitment, overtime, training and other HR KPIs
- Process various entries for payroll; pay adjustments, after-hours pagers, work premiums
- Calculate and pay annual vacation payout on OT hours for hourly employees
- Review vacation entitlements balance and arrange payment for essential hourly workers
- Handling of employee timesheets communicating deadlines and contacting supervisors if missing any entries/punches
- Manage the timely payment of various annual award programs: IPS, QCC, Milestones, referrals, bonuses, retirement.
- Assist in the annual compensation exercises for salary reviews and incentive program.
- Review and submit Record of employment for employees
- Assist in completion of payroll audit, gathering information
- Review the CAN and US statutory holidays calendar
- Create efficiencies within our processes to optimize and automate transactions
- Work closely with the Payroll Supervisor and act as back-up system Administrator
- Create Payroll guide for our annual processes
- Review and prepare various reports and KPI’s of our payroll data
- Post-secondary education or Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Payroll or any other equivalent combination
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in HR Generalist role/Payroll experience an asset but not required
- Fluently bilingual, spoken and written (English & French) is needed
- Member of CRHA / CHRP would be an asset
- Knowledgeable in HR programs, policies and practices
- Must have a high level of professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- Ability to manage priorities, be organized and can manage multiple tasks/projects within tight deadlines and under pressure
- Strong problem solving and prioritizing skills
- Exceptional customer service orientation, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and handle pressure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced skills with Excel, knowledge of Dayforce / Ceridian would be an asset
