What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Director, Governance, Controls and Finance Operations, the Business Analyst, Finance Operations will provide support to Senior Manager, Finance Operations in managing the relationship with CIBC’s external auditor, including quarterly board reporting and analysis activities. The position is responsible for ensuring that CIBC’s external auditor provide services in accordance with the Scope of Services Policy. The role will work closely with the external auditor, the Finance governance and controls team, Finance LOBs, senior executives across the Bank and Corporate Secretary team.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Coordination - Perform initial review of engagement letters to ensure services provided by external auditor are in line with the Scope of Services Policy. Review external auditor invoices to ensure that invoice amount submitted does not exceed agreed fee per approved engagement letter. Monitor and track deliverables to external auditors (e.g., walkthrough scheduling, uploading of artifacts, etc.). Coordinate the onboarding and offboarding of external audit team.
  • Documentation - Manage SharePoint database of the external auditor related documents such as engagement letters and invoices, walkthrough and test of controls tracker, etc. and ensure compliance to Records Management Policy.
  • Stakeholder Management - Work with the HR team and external auditor to safeguard against solicitation of external auditor personnel.
  • Analysis/Reporting - Support analysis of audit fees, expenses, invoice and engagement letter database as required. Prepare draft of the quarterly board committee report for the Scope of Services Policy, including allied documentation updates. Support administrative and reporting tasks for quarterly management committee meetings.
