Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a qualified Business Development Manager to be a key stakeholder in growing the Technology Systems market share in Canada. As Business Development Manager, you will be part of a North American “Defense Security & Critical Infrastructure (DS&CI)” team dedicated to enabling our customers to solve complex technical problems through a solutions-based sales approach. The position will be responsible for selling RF system solutions to our Canadian Government customer base and industry partners. The products and solutions from our Technology Systems Division include HF/VHF/UHF communication systems and supporting applications. The customer base is both military and civilian.

Your tasks

  • Understand customer needs and identify how Rohde & Schwarz products can provide technical solutions
  • Cultivate new customer relationships and develop into lasting partnerships
  • Expand and grow existing customer relationships
  • Grow market share and exceed quota
  • Build and manage a strong sales funnel
  • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of business opportunities and customer contacts
  • Work closely with other account managers, business development managers, program management, product line management, engineering and other core functional leaders across the segment and corporate organizational structure.
  • Establish effective working relationships with the sales teams at the company headquarters in Munich, Germany and with the DS&CI team at Rohde & Schwarz America.
  • Act as a contributing member of the DS&CI sales team for Secure Communications, Infrastructure and Networks, and Monitoring and Analytics, following guidelines and processes.

Your Qualifications

  • BSEE (or equivalent technical education/operational experience), MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of complex technical sales experience
  • Expertise in military/civil communication systems
  • Experience working with Department of National Defence prime system contractors/integrators
  • Experience developing new business opportunities with the Department of National Defence and other government departments
  • In depth knowledge of Federal Government requirements and acquisition/procurement processes
  • Experience with both large and small account management
  • Possess strong communication, presentation, negotiation, collaboration and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • English is essential, while having French is an asset
  • Self-motivated to learn and understand internal and customer processes
  • Ability to travel regularly, 30% or more, both domestic and international
  • Must have Canadian citizenship and be eligible to obtain a Canadian Security Clearance level to SECRET
