Our member company is looking to hire a Carpenter, to join their team in Port Colbourne, ON. The Carpenter will have a strong background in general carpentry, with expertise in working on large-scale projects such as office buildings, retail spaces, healthcare facilities, and more. As a Carpenter, you will collaborate with general foremen, project managers, and fellow tradespeople to execute carpentry tasks that contribute to the successful completion of diverse construction projects.

The Carpenter will have a strong background in general carpentry, with expertise in working on large-scale projects such as office buildings, retail spaces, healthcare facilities, and more. As a Carpenter, you will collaborate with general foremen, project managers, and fellow tradespeople to execute carpentry tasks that contribute to the successful completion of diverse construction projects.
Responsibilities:
Safety
- Ensure all safety requirements are followed and met, striving for zero safety incidents
- Abide by the Stolk Construction H&S Manual, as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
- Report any jobsite injury and/or illness in an immediate manner to Operations Support Specialist and Project manager
- Adhere to building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices to ensure the safety of yourself, team members, and other personnel on the job site.
- Apply specialized knowledge of carpentry techniques to undertake various tasks, including metal stud framing, drywall installation, acoustical ceilings, millwork installation, and other aspects of interior/exterior construction.
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings to determine project requirements, layouts, and materials needed for successful execution of carpentry tasks alongside the general foremen.
- Collaborate with general foreman to identify and source appropriate materials for each project, considering factors such as durability, aesthetics, and budget constraints.
- Execute accurate and precise carpentry work, ensuring proper installation of metal studs, drywall, acoustic systems, doors, frames, windows, and cabinetry, while adhering to industry standards.
- Operate and maintain a variety of specialized tools and equipment used in carpentry work, including laser levels, power drills, framing nailers, and cutting tools.
- Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship and attention to detail, conducting thorough inspections of completed work to ensure it meets or exceeds quality and project specifications.
- Ensure the proper level of quality is maintained while also attaining the outlined timelines of the task
- Communicate material and equipment needs to the General Foremen / Project Manager in a proactive manner
- Keep work areas clean and organized, manage material storage efficiently, and ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Track and properly manage all company tools and equipment assigned to you
- Follow instruction in an effort to complete tasks correctly the first time
- Be open minded to coaching and development opportunities
- Submit accurately completely paperwork in a timely manner
- Collaborate to resolve challenges and contribute to the timely completion of projects.
- Identify and address any issues that arise during construction, providing effective solutions to minimize disruptions and maintain project progress.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, highlighting any milestones, challenges, or changes that may impact the project timeline.
- Proven experience as a Carpenter, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in ICI construction.
- In-depth understanding of commercial construction processes, including metal stud framing, drywall installation, acoustical systems, and millwork.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex architectural and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Skilled in using specialized tools and equipment commonly used in commercial carpentry work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Willingness to continually develop self and others
- An ability to effectively develop strong relationships with clients, fellow team members and suppliers
- An ability to coach, mentor, motivate, direct and supervise team members as required
- Strong communication and listening skills
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Trade certification or formal training in carpentry is preferred.
