Otter Co-op is now accepting applications for a full-time Category Manager, Spirits and Old-World Wine for our Angry Otter Liquor locations in the Fraser Valley, Greater Vancouver and the Okanagan BC areas.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Liquor Division Manager, the Category Manager, Spirits and Old-World Wine is responsible for developing and supporting Angry Otter Liquor’s procurement practices and procedures, as well as the sourcing and monitoring of vendor performance for all Angry Otter Liquor locations. This role is an integral part of the Director’s leadership team, working closely with other Category Managers to develop and execute on building programming, sourcing strategies and programs that are consistent with Angry Otter.

The successful candidate will be responsible for duties such as but are not limited to the following:

  • Meet with Preferred Vendors and sourcing of unique products
  • Negotiate value-driven deals with suppliers
  • Make strategic recommendations on sourcing at an organizational level and is responsible for creating relationships necessary to continuously improve vendor management
  • Work collaboratively with all Category Managers to build programming, flyer activation, LTO activity and wine locker program expansion
  • Responsible for product management of inventory levels and product assortment (SKU Count). Inventory management is crucial to ensure turns meet Company expectations
  • Competition checks
  • Support with store CASM for the Spirits and Old-World Wine section for all Angry Otter locations
  • Store Audits including signage, displays and backrooms etc.
  • Ensure the store’s merchandising standards are being managed and maintained and all programs are being implemented, measured, and managed
  • Directly responsible to ensure the stores adheres to BCLDB operating guidelines and all government regulations in labeling, pricing, sanitation, and food safety
  • Attend and actively participate in commodity, leadership, and safety meetings
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
  • Contribute to the Team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Customer Service Management and:

  • Work experience in leading and managing people is an asset as is several years' experience in the liquor industry as a store manager or in a Buyer capacity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to manage computer files efficiently
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership and communications skills, motivation, and ability to work in a busy environment
  • Effective planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain relationships outside of the organization that support the organization
  • Enjoy working with the public
  • Must be available 7 days a week to work between early mornings, afternoons and late evenings
  • Preference will be given to those with additional liquor industry experience
  • Valid Driver’s License is required, as this position may require on some occasions to travel at work at other sites as business needs arise. Travel would be in the Greater Vancouver Area, Fraser Valley, and Interior of B.C
  • This position will be based out of our Langley/Abbotsford Administration Offices.
