Schedule: Monday to Friday - 7.5 hours per day
Location: Archbishop Anthony Meagher Catholic Continuing Education Centre Oshawa and Giffard Centre
Qualifications
Required:
- Certificate
of Qualification / Interim Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario
College of Teachers (must be in good standing)
- Bachelor’s
Degree in Early Childhood Education and current membership in the provincial
association for Early Childhood Educators (in good standing) or Early
Childhood Educator Diploma from a registered college in Canada and current
membership in the provincial association for Early Childhood Educators (in good
standing)
Desired:
- Cooperative
Education, Part 1
- Formal
training and/or experience in teaching adults in an educational setting
- Experience
teaching online courses
- Knowledge
of Brightspace / Desire2Learn (D2L) platform
Responsibilities:
In-school
training (Monday to Friday 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week) and student
placement experience (cooperative education). The instructor/coordinator is
expected to deliver both the theoretical and practical components of the program
and secure all student placements.
THEORY:
- Deliver
the Child Development and Gerontology: Child Development Emphasis Courses
curriculum
- Provide
appropriate assessment and evaluations pertaining to the curriculum
- Monitor
students’ progress in the courses and provide timely and descriptive feedback
PRACTICAL:
- Coordinate
all certifications and student placement
- Monitor
student progress at placement and provide appropriate assessments and
evaluations
The successful applicant should have
teachable(s) and teaching experience in the subject area(s) or deemed capable
per the definition in the OECTA Secondary Agreement.
Rate
of Pay:
Will
be paid according to the Continuing Education hourly rate, $57.84/hour, as per
the current collective agreement for each designated day of the program.
