JOB DESCRIPTION
The Commis Chef at Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse assists the Chef de Partie and Demi Chefs in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes. This role requires basic culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Commis Chef supports the kitchen operations, ensuring the smooth running of their designated section and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This role ensures adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures, and supports Great Canadian’s learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Commis Chef at Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse assists the Chef de Partie and Demi Chefs in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes. This role requires basic culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Commis Chef supports the kitchen operations, ensuring the smooth running of their designated section and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This role ensures adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures, and supports Great Canadian’s learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items according to established recipes and standards: measuring, washing, peeling, chopping and seasoning.
- Provide support to the Chef de Partie, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish served.
- Help maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Keep workstations clean and organized, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Assist in monitoring stock levels, proper storage, and rotation of ingredients.
- Receiving deliveries and verifying that all ordered items are received and are good quality
- Work closely with the Chef de Partie, Demi Chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Learn and follow kitchen protocols and cooking techniques as instructed by senior chefs.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment in your section is properly maintained and cleaned.
- Develop and cultivate strong working relationships with the rest of the kitchen staff.
- Follow waste management procedures to minimize waste and manage food costs.
- Dispose of the expired and spoiled food items stored in stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health, and safety regulations at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Available to work up to 40 hours per week in a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
- Minimum 1-year culinary experience.
- Basic culinary skills with a willingness to learn and improve.
- Attention to detail to ensure every dish meets quality and presentation standards.
- Ability to quickly adapt to different kitchen environments and requirements.
- Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of working efficiently in a fast paced environment.
- High School Diploma or combination of education and experience.
- Level 1 FoodSafe.
- Able to successfully obtain a Criminal Record Check
- A willingness to learn, develop and achieve new skills for personal and professional development.
