Your role

We are looking for a Communication Manager for Saab Canada Inc.

Saab Canada Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saab AB, a global company headquartered in Sweden. Saab AB and its affiliate companies serve markets worldwide with cutting-edge products, services, and solutions spanning military defence and civil security.

Saab Canada, Inc has offices in Ottawa supporting government relations and business development and Halifax supporting in-service support contracts. Our team in Medicine Hat supports international training and simulation contracts.

The Communication Manager is responsible for delivering high quality communication and event support. You will be responsible for executing and iterating on Saab Canada's communications strategy. The role is also responsible for ensuring regular, consistent and effective communication relating to Saab’s existing and potential business including service offering, performance and organizational development. The work is to be carried out in close cooperation with the communications departments across Saab for alignment and business growth.

This role includes maintaining and strengthening relationships with diverse stakeholder groups, including government officials, industry partners, media representatives, and public affairs consultants. You will synchronize with other Saab stakeholders when needed and are expected to work in alignment with Saab’s policies and directives.

Key Responsibilities;

• Execute and update Saab Canada's internal and external communications strategy.
• Ensure alignment with global Saab communications policies, messaging, and branding.
• Provide communications support and develop content that support business development objectives and market positioning.
• Support government relations activities through messaging, briefing materials, and stakeholder engagement.
• Lead media relations, including press releases, announcements, key messages, and media monitoring.
• Coordinate all Canadian events, exhibitions, sponsorships, and trade show activities.
  
  
  

This is a fixed-term contract position to cover employee leave, with the possibility of extension.

Your profile

We are looking for a Communication Manager with a strong background in strategic communications, media relations, executive communications, and stakeholder engagement. You are an excellent communicator with strong writing, presentation, and digital skills, capable of creating clear and impactful messaging for diverse audiences. You thrive in a multinational environment with cross-functional collaboration. Experience from defence, aerospace, government relations, or other highly regulated industries is an advantage.

We believe you have;

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in communications, PR, journalism, or corporate communications.
• English required; bilingual English/French preferred.
  
  
  

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
