The City of Edmonton’s Community Standards Branch is seeking a dedicated Community Standards Dispatcher / Call Evaluator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will provide crucial dispatch support and call evaluation services to our enforcement staff, ensuring the safety of both officers and the public. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining community standards and public safety by efficiently managing communication, coordinating responses, and providing essential information to frontline officers and various community members. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of branch operations, by-laws, and legislative regulations, all while delivering exceptional service to our diverse community.
What will you do?
Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective Agreement
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $32.424 - $40.727 Hourly $67,701.310 - $85,037.980 Annually

What will you do?
- Evaluate incoming complaints from various sources to ensure proper processes are followed and all necessary information is gathered for effective enforcement
- Serve as a key point of contact for residents, internal and external agencies, and 311, coordinating Bylaw and Provincial enforcement services
- Provide dispatch services to frontline officers, monitoring their locations, ensuring their safety, and offering crucial information support
- Utilize alarm and CCTV monitoring systems to support operations and maintain safety. Issue bylaw notifications and distribute informational materials as needed
- Manage and report data using various records management systems
- Contribute to the development and delivery of training within the unit for new employees and engage in mentorship activities to support team development
- Other duties as assigned
- Completion of High School or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in a customer-centric service role, including 2 years of related dispatch experience
- A certificate or diploma in Emergency Communications and Response.
- Certification in Verbal Judo, Radio Dispatch, Indigenous Awareness, GBA+, Google applications, and Office Suite. Knowledge of alarm monitoring systems and CCTV monitoring
- Experience working in a large, complex organization or in the public sector
- Experience interpreting and explaining legislation, regulations, and bylaws
- Proficiency in Google Workplace, SAP/CRM, Computer Aided Dispatch, and Posse
- Ability to make sound decisions independently and handle difficult situations calmly
- Strong ability to manage a high volume of work under pressure
- Excellent customer service, teamwork, communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Call evaluation, dispatching, and radio dispatch experience

- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position. There may be a cost associated with this requirement
- Ability to obtain Bylaw Officer designation
- Ability to obtain First Aid certification
- Applicants may be tested
- Shift work is required. Availability to work evenings and weekends is required
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
