Coordinator, Paramedic Programs

Qualifications:
- Degree in Paramedicine; a related health discipline may be considered
- 3 to 5 years of current or recent relevant clinical experience in an emergency healthcare setting
- Familiarity with updates and changes within the healthcare system of Alberta
- Registration with a relevant professional regulatory body (Alberta College of Paramedics, etc.)
- Experience in post-secondary education or adult learning environments is preferred
- A clean vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to commencement
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
- A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
Assets:
- Previous experience in program coordination, clinical education, or supervision
- Instructor certification in BLS, ITLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
Nature and Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Chair, Paramedic Programs, this position is responsible for the clinical and practical coordination of Emergency Medical Responder, Primary Care Paramedic, and Advanced Care Paramedic programs. This role oversees clinical placements, supports faculty and students during practicum experiences, and ensures effective program delivery both online and on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Coordination and Administration
- Coordinate on- and off-site program activities
- Organization and upkeep of campus lab space and equipment
- Coordinate the purchase and replenishment of lab consumables as required
- Develop and manage clinical and program schedules
- Coordinate placement requests through HSPnet
- Organize sessional instructor confirmations, orientations, and ongoing support
- Provide guidance to administrative support staff
- Ensure program processes are followed, including:
- Course evaluations
- Student applications, withdrawals, and registrations
- Adherence to schedules and deadlines
- Maintain program contact lists and documentation
- Prepare internal documents and reports as required
- Contribute to planning related to budget, personnel, equipment, supplies, and resources
Program Development and Quality Assurance
- Participate in curriculum review and development
- Contribute to program approval and renewal processes and activities
- Co-coordinate clinical and practical program activities
- Support student performance management and success
- Foster teaching excellence through mentoring and support of faculty and staff
Team Collaboration and Communication
- Facilitate effective communication within the department
- Advocate for faculty and staff needs and concerns
- Collaborate with colleagues on projects, initiatives, and practicum oversight
- Consult with supervisors as appropriate
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and solutions-focused team environment
College Engagement and Representation
- Attend and actively participate in
- Departmental and college meetings
- NLC general meetings
- External committees (e.g., HSPnet, Provincial Committees)
- Promote a positive image of the College
- Support and participate in program marketing and recruitment activities
- Assist in the development of promotional materials and initiatives
