Our Police Operations Support Department is looking for a dedicated Custodial Worker I to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
The Custodial Worker I performs a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks in an assigned building or building area. This includes office cleaning, as well as cleaning of the cell block area and will involve both indoor and outdoor working environments. This position requires repeated heavy physical demand, including but not limited to long periods of standing and climbing stairs.
You will be working with a variety of people; RCMP and GPPS members, municipal employees, public servants and other stakeholders involved in protective services.
You will come in contact with individuals and experience situations unique to working in a policing environment. The job demands your attention to detail and a very high level of discretion.
Qualifications
To be successful, you will have proven experience in the cleaning and upkeep of a major facility. In addition, it would be considered an asset to have prior work experience in basic building maintenance, certification in first aid and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), as well as basic computer skills and knowledge. An equivalent combination of work experience and knowledge may be considered.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance.
You Should Also Possess The Following Competencies
This is a casual position with hours scheduled as operationally required.
Compensation
Starting salary $31.71 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
