As a Drafting Technician you will be a team member within the Drafting and Design Solutions (DDS) team who reviews and processes quote requests for custom product. You will partner internally with members from Loewen's Design, Marketing, Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing to develop customized solutions for their unique design requirements along with . In simple terms, your role is to help turn Loewen's customers' dreams into reality.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, shifts may vary due to business needs.
This is an 18-month term position.
In this role you will:
- Work as a key member of the DDS team, supporting manufacturing through accurate and efficient creation of detail drawings and templates.
- Create detailed drawings covering a varied level of complexity, primarily following established standards and practices.
- Produce templates for manufacturing.
- Monitor and work the incoming queue, assisting in support and delegation when needed.
- Support the DDS team by ensuring information quality, troubleshooting drawing-related issues, and raising questions as needed.
- Attend approval meetings as required.
- Provide training, mentorship, and support to Junior Drafting Technicians.
- Contribute to training materials, documentation, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal customers to ensure smooth, timely, and accurate delivery of details.
- Support in all areas/departments requiring detailing work.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including engagement and evaluation of suggestions as they are raised by manufacturing.
- Other duties as assigned.
You will bring to this role:
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of detailing practices, standards, and terminology.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proven communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
Assets:
- Drafting/CAD certification or diploma.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Product knowledge (e.g., Loewen or similar).
