About Us

Life is complicated enough. At Akash Homes, we believe building a home shouldn’t be. We’ve grown fast by doing things differently - removing surprises, prioritizing quality, and delivering homes that feel as good as they look. We’re scaling quickly across Western Canada, and we need people who are ready to dig in and help shape what comes next.

If you haven’t heard of us: Akash Homes is a homebuilder headquartered in Edmonton, with active communities in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. We have an ambitious growth trajectory—and we’ve doubled year over year. We’re now one of the top 5 builders by permits in Edmonton and top 20 in Calgary. We’ve grown from a small (but mighty) team of 17 in 2023 to over 75 in 2025 (and counting). This kind of growth isn’t just about the numbers—it’s about the culture we’re building, the people we're investing in, and the momentum we’re proud to sustain.

The Role

We are seeking an Estimator for Akash Homes, based in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Opportunity

At Akash Homes, estimating is more than building budgets, it’s about creating the financial foundation that supports operational success, scalability, and smart decision-making. As our organization continues to grow, we’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in delivering accurate and reliable project costing.

This role offers exposure beyond traditional estimating responsibilities. You’ll work closely with Operations, Drafting & Design, Construction, and trade partners while contributing to process improvements, system optimization, and stronger operational alignment across the business.

One year at Akash Homes is like three years elsewhere. The pace is fast, the learning curve is steep, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact is real.

Top 3 Priorities for Your First 6 Months

  • Build a strong understanding of Akash Homes’ estimating processes, cost structures, and residential product lines
  • Improve accuracy, consistency, and organization within project estimates and cost databases
  • Support ongoing process improvements and system utilization within the estimating function

What You’ll Own

  • Prepare detailed residential construction cost estimates for assigned projects
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to determine labour and material costs
  • Support bid preparation and maintain organized project costing documentation
  • Review and validate supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitiveness and accuracy
  • Maintain and update estimating templates, pricing databases, and cost libraries
  • Monitor labour and material pricing trends and assist with maintaining current market pricing
  • Collaborate with Production, Site Teams, Drafting, and Purchasing to ensure estimates align with operational requirements
  • Communicate with suppliers and trade partners regarding pricing, material availability, and scope clarification
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for cost savings and process efficiencies
  • Support estimating system improvements and ERP utilization initiatives
  • Help maintain consistency and accuracy across estimating workflows and documentation
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development related to residential construction and estimating best practices

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in residential construction estimating or a related construction role
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, estimating software, and ERP systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Professional communication skills with internal teams, suppliers, and trade partners
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • We’re less concerned about checking every box and more interested in your ability to contribute, learn, and grow with the business. That said, the following would be considered assets:
  • Experience within residential homebuilding or a high-growth construction environment
  • Knowledge of Alberta residential construction methods, materials, and trade scopes
  • Experience with ERP systems, estimating software, or cost tracking platforms
  • Exposure to purchasing, procurement, or pre-construction coordination
