What You’ll Do:
As an Estimator, you will support the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for civil construction projects by reviewing tender documents, completing quantity take-offs, coordinating pricing, and working closely with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the bidding process.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the preparation of project estimates and tender submissions by gathering required information, reviewing bid requirements, and supporting the development of accurate and competitive pricing.
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to understand project scope, identify key requirements, and flag any potential risks, gaps, or clarification items.
- Perform quantity take-offs and assist with pricing for labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other project-related costs.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain pricing, confirm scopes of work, and ensure accurate information is included in project estimates.
- Support project managers, senior estimators, and proposal teams throughout the estimating process, including during bid reviews, tender preparation, and project handover.
- Maintain organized estimating documentation, including bid files, supplier and subcontractor quotes, drawings, specifications, cost breakdowns, and supporting records.
- Help analyze project costs, budgets, and historical data to support accurate estimating, cost tracking, and future bid development.
- Assist with identifying potential cost-saving opportunities, constructability considerations, and value-added solutions during the estimating process.
- Support the preparation of reports, schedules, and other documentation required for tender submissions and internal review.
- Participate in estimate reviews and contribute to discussions regarding pricing, scope, risk, and project execution strategies.
What We're Looking For:
We’re excited to meet candidates who have:
- 3–5 years of experience in estimating, construction, project coordination, or a related industry role.
- Civil construction experience is considered a strong asset, particularly in areas such as heavy civil, roadwork, earthworks, underground services, concrete, asphalt, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to review project information, interpret quantities, and support accurate cost calculations.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies, review documentation carefully, and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the confidence to work with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Experience with estimating software is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, tender documents, and related construction information.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and interest in building a long-term career in the construction industry.
