We're looking for an Environmental Remediation Estimator to support our growing team. In this role, you'll develop accurate, competitive, and strategically aligned cost estimates and financial proposals that drive KBL's growth. Working collaboratively across operations, project management, finance, and business development, you'll help deliver winning proposals while identifying commercial opportunities and managing project risk.
What You'll Do
- Develop accurate cost estimates, pricing schedules, commercial assumptions, and financial proposals for competitive bids, RFPs, RFQs, and other client opportunities.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Operations, Finance, and Business Development to build comprehensive estimates that reflect project scope, execution strategy, and client requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing, evaluate quotations, and identify cost risks, value opportunities, and pricing strategies that strengthen proposal competitiveness.
- Maintain and improve estimating tools, templates, historical cost data, pricing workbooks, and financial proposal standards to support continuous improvement.
- Support strategic growth initiatives by providing commercial analysis, market intelligence, project handovers, and estimating expertise throughout the proposal lifecycle.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Environmental Science, Business, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent operations, estimating, or field experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in cost estimating, project controls, proposal pricing, construction estimating, or project management, preferably within environmental services, remediation, demolition, civil construction, waste management, industrial services, logistics, or engineering environments.
- Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail and strong commercial judgement.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and proposal deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships across operations, finance, project management, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality work.
- Strong understanding of RFP, RFQ, tender, procurement, and bid compliance processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, linked workbooks, scenario analysis, and structured estimating models.
- Ability to read and interpret scopes of work, specifications, drawings, schedules, pricing forms, and contract documents.
- Experience coordinating subcontractor and vendor quotations and developing comparative pricing analyses.
- Experience identifying cost risks, pricing opportunities, scope gaps, and commercial considerations.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Bluebeam, InEight, or equivalent tools is considered an asset.
- Experience with ERP systems, CRM software, project controls, or cost tracking systems is considered an asset.
- Professional certifications such as Gold Seal, CIQS/PQS, PMP, CAPM, or construction estimating training are considered assets.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, client meetings, pre-bid meetings, and regional conferences.
