Job Description And Responsibilities

This role is responsible for monthly accounting close processes, preparing journal entries and preparing analytical analysis. Additionally, in this role the successful candidate will be responsible for monthly account reconciliations, including analyzing balances and ensuring accounting treatment is in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This will be a temporary role, reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager.

  • Responsible for monthly accounting close processes, preparing journal entries and preparing analytical analysis
  • Prepare monthly account and bank reconciliations, including analyzing balances and ensuring accounting treatment is in accordance with IFRS guidance
  • Record intercompany transactions ensuring all accounts are in balance with the rest of the company
  • Prepare monthly reporting package
  • Assist with ensuring that adequate internal controls exist and are maintained
  • Assist external and internal auditors in the performance of year-end and interim financial audits/reviews
  • Ad-hoc reporting to support operations
  • Assist other team members to complete corporate projects/assignments
  • Assisting with preparing financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assisting with special projects as needed
  • Cooperatively work with accounting and other teams within the Organization, including Sales, Treasury, FP&A, HR, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and the EVRAZ Recycling management team
  • Utilize problem solving, analytical and organizational skills to understand the business and accounting processes at the Company
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting
  • 3 - 6 years of relevant accounting experience; Industrial Manufacturing experience considered an asset
  • CPA Designation considered an asset
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Power BI)
  • Experience with ERP systems is required; Experience with Oracle considered an asset
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles desired
  • Must be a self-starter and flexible with initiative to work independently
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills; results driven, accountable and be able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Pro-active spirit and good communication skills, team oriented, collaborative working style
