We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. In this role you will be an integral part of the team, providing valuable research and analytical support, while contributing to key financial functions including budget preparation and financial forecasting. Additionally, you will assist in business performance variance analytics and provide insights that support strategic decision-making.
This role is located in London, Ontario and will work out of our VersaBank Innovation Centre of Excellence (VICE) office.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Develop financial models to support business planning, capital management, and balance sheet optimization scenarios.
- Conduct variance analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results.
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages at both the enterprise and business unit levels.
- Conduct macro/micro economic and market research.
- Support the development and maintenance of financial performance projection models at both the enterprise and operating unit level.
- Support the performance of financial risk analytics and reporting at both the enterprise and operating unit level.
- Review industry and economic databases and publications in support of enterprise and operating unit business and capital plan development.
- Update and enhance the Finance department’s policy manuals as necessary and support the development of standard operating procedures.
- Support the completion of all regulatory and external reporting requirements ensuring accuracy and timeliness of data and information.
- Additional projects as assigned.
What we look for:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Statistics or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in the financial services industry. Direct experience with financial modelling considered an asset.
- Ideal candidate will be pursuing a CFA or CPA designation.
- Strong Excel skills are vital in this role, the ability to use and create Pivot tables and look up functions is considered a strong asset. Knowledge of macros is a plus.
- Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting principles.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Exposure to Power BI considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly in statistical analysis, are an asset.
- Well organized with strong attention to detail.
- Adaptable team player who can effectively multi-task.
