Summary
Reporting to Finance Team Lead, the Financial Analyst will be accountable for providing all aspects of accounting support for a project or group of projects. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that project accounting processes and controls are being adhered to, in accordance with company policies and procedures, to ensure clear, accurate, consistent, and relevant project financial information on a timely basis. The successful candidate will be an important member of a dynamic team and enjoys problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. This is a dynamic role with the flexibility of working in the Calgary office and home work settings.

Essential Functions
Execution
- Perform and ensure the general transactional accounting processes, reconciliations, and month-end procedures are completed in an accurate and timely manner and in compliance with company policies
- Comple monthly journal entries for multiple accounts
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses.
- Responsible for the reconciliation, and accurate completion of multiple balance sheet accounts in compliance with company policies
- Undertake ad hoc reporting and participate in special projects as required
- Utilize documented accounting processes to execute day-to-day work.
- Display commitment to continuous improvement initiatives
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members and internal customers.
- Apply documented accounting processes to ensure efficient, effective, and consistent end-to-end processes.
- Contribute to the deliverables for audit work requirements (external & client) for projects.
- Support other projects and initiatives when needed
- Oversee recurring transactional processes
- Assist in preparing periodic account variance analysis for the company and / or project(s)
- Assis in the ongoing development of systems and process and improvement opportunities
- Degree or Diploma in Finance / Accounting or a related field.
- Working towards a recognized professional designation (CPA)
- 2-3 years of experience in a financial or related role.
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good understanding for Accounting Principles and practices
- Basic technical accounting proficiency in financial accounting.
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Experience with an SAP system is an asset
