Job Title: FIRST COOK
We are recruiting for (2) First Cook positions. The positions are full-time 30-40 hours per week, permanent with an hourly rate of $20.60. Overtime may be necessary as required paid at time and half.
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes and foods.
- Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities in a restaurant establishment.
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
- Supervise activities of 2nd and 3rd
- May create new recipes with assistance of Chef de Partie.
- Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen and follow the rules of health and safety.
- Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins.
- Ensure that the production, preparation and presentation of food are of the highest quality at all times.
- Ensure highest levels of guest satisfaction, quality, operating and food costs on an ongoing basis.
- Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.
- Follow good preservation standards for the proper handling of all food products at the right temperature.
- Flexible shift hours will be required.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program for cooks or Completion of college or other program in cooking is an asset to this position.
- 1-2 years of commercial cooking experience.
- Personal days: 5 per year after 90 days of continued full-time employment
