Job Description
Canada Post boasts one of Canada's largest real estate portfolios, with over 1,700 owned or managed properties across the country. This extensive infrastructure supports a national retail and delivery network that serves every community, including nearly 5,800 retail post offices.
The General Manager, Real Estate is responsible for the effective management of all Corporate Real Estate. The incumbent is responsible for providing and establishing all corporate Real Estate Planning and Development plans and standards, including long range and strategic programs, policies, procedures, and personnel to maximize Canada Post’s return on its Real Estate assets. The General Manager provides leadership in the establishment, implementation and ongoing compliance of Canada Post’s Real Estate and policies, procedures, practices, and standards related to the planning for the design, construction, lease, property management and accounting of Real Estate assets. The General Manager is also responsible for monitoring and reporting on compliance to the Company’s real estate environmental policies and procedures. The General Manager directs the overall performance of the Corporate Real Estate function to ensure that all user requirements are met.

Job Responsibilities
- Directs and ensures the effective cost management of all Canada Post properties and facilities.
- Provides Corporate leadership to the establishment, implementation and ongoing compliance to Canada Post’s Real Estate policies, procedures, specifications and standards, and ensures they are consistent with the Corporation’s priorities and strategic direction.
- Provides project management support for all Real Estate projects and establishes policies, procedures and standards for the planning and delivery of the projects
- Provides support, advice and guidance to the operation and maintenance of all Canada Post facilities ensuring that all user requirements are fully met.
- Provides direction to the architectural, engineering and environmental design, and financial planning of all Real Estate projects.
- Liaises with internal and external stakeholders in Operations, Information Technology, Health & Safety and other groups to formulate a corporate-wide, integrated Real Estate Capital Plan and ensures its consistency with the Corporate Plan.
- Accountable for achieving the Operating Plan, Investment Portfolio, Acquisition, Disposal and Leasing Program objectives, as well as ensuring key performance indicators of Corporate Real Estate’s contracted suppliers are met.
- Provides Real Estate and facilities-related environmental expertise and resources to the Corporation on an ongoing basis.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with senior executives within the Corporation, Municipalities, Government Agencies, the Real Estate Industry and other related professional associations to ensure the most effective management of all Canada Post assets.
- Ensures through leadership, succession planning and training, a continuing development of knowledgeable staff at Head Office and in the Field for the Corporate Real Estate function with potential for assignments in other areas of the CPC organization. Provides strategic leadership to a national Corporate Real Estate team, fostering a high-performance culture through effective coaching, mentorship, and talent development, while strengthening robust succession planning across corporate and field operations.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (such as Real Estate, Property Management, Business), or a combination of education, training and professional experience
- Minimum of 15 years’ of relevant senior leadership experience in the Real Estate or Property Management field
- Minimum of 10 years’ executive leadership experience leading medium to large sized teams
- An established leader in team building and employee engagement and a champion of the Corporate Values, Leadership Behaviours and Habits
- Experience with major, national or international organizations is an asset
- Strong oral and written communication skills
