What will you be doing !

  • Managing large volumes of project data within correlational data structures, integrated with the enterprise GIS platform.
  • Establishing data transfer standards, data validation and workflow between external contractors and the enterprise geodatabase.
  • Performing scheduled updates for vendor-acquired products, including data imagery.
  • Organizing data to highlight relationships or dependencies between different data points or tables. Using key-value pairs, indices, or other structures to enable efficient retrieval of related information.
  • Determine patterns, trends, and possible connections that might not be apparent when examining data separately. Analyze relationships between various datasets to obtain insights and provide to stakeholders for reporting and decision making.
  • Developing, maintaining and managing advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards and other BI solutions.
  • Maintaining databases; SQL/Geodatabases or similar database and performing updates as necessary to ensure currency and accuracy of data.
  • Utilizing GIS tools to effectively deliver cartographic products in various formats, such as digital, print, and interactive GIS portal layers/maps for presentations and reports.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage the data for addressing complex problems, and reporting requirements.
  • Assessing existing GIS models, schema, applications, tools and recommending or implementing improvements.
  • Providing technical support to the GIS team, GIS users, and external contractors.
  • Analyzing, managing and maintaining enterprise GIS geodatabase, including server administration.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education
    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience
    • 5+ years’ experience working with correlational data structures and integration of a Geographical Information System (GIS) in a related role(s).
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Demonstrated analytical, evaluative and interpretive skills to interpret environmental data effectively.
    • Familiarity with, and ability to work with third-party service providers, contractors, and other data providers.
    • The ability to create ArcGIS Dashboard web applications and experience working with ESRI-hosted feature layers.
    • Experience managing PostgreSQL or a similar database.
    • Experience with customization, automation, extract-transform-load (ETL) and supporting tools is an asset.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a must, some knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset.
    • Good cartographic skills.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

CNL's Historic Waste Program Management Office is in Port Hope, Ontario's beautiful and historic community. Roughly 100 km east of Toronto, it is still close enough to the “Big City” without all the hassle of being in the “Big City.” As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low-Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario demonstrates Canada’s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.
