Description

The suitable candidates will be able to perform the following duties:
Planning and supervising tasks carried out by the food preparation staff
Taking responsibility for the health and safety of the food team.
Planning food menus and ensuring that the menu is fresh and well presented
Keeping abreast of culinary trends and incorporating these into the menu
Ordering food and supplies, such as kitchen equipment, and keeping an updated inventory
Dealing with suppliers and checking that the correct equipment has been delivered at the quoted prices
Keeping abreast of and complying with the latest health and safety laws and regulations
Ensures the production of cost efficient quality products
This position is responsible for supervision of staff
Prioritize and delegate tasks in kitchen layout and prep
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of kitchen staff
Exercise a positive attitude and remain professional under all circumstances
Planning and preparing meals for patients, staff, guests and special events
To supervise the team to work in a safe, efficient and hygienic way while ensuring that standards are met and surpassed in kitchen
Must have food handlers and/or servsafe
Ensures that HACCP standards are maintained throughout the food preparation process by record keeping of HAACP log, production sheets, cooling logs and cleaning schedule
100% Sanitation Duties for position required (Warehouse & Kitchen)
Reviews daily paperwork, menus, and recipes
Prepares food items according to the menu following the standardized recipes
Ensures that the tray line set-up is accurate and the meal service starts on time and is completed within facility guidelines
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent;
Training at a community college, technical school, culinary arts school, or 4-year college
At least 2 years experience working as a head cook
