Your Opportunity: As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. The Unit Manager supervises the position Description: As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals

Required Qualifications: Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire Additional Required Qualifications: To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must the able to work to full scope of practice (physically, mentally and emotionally) on this very busy, fast-paced Gastrointestinal/TB Unit. Must be able to work within posted position rotation and shifts. Must be able to push, pull and lift at least 50 lbs. Recent acute care Medicine experience required. Basic computing skills required. Must possess excellent communication and time management skills. Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment. Able to demonstrate knowledge of infection prevention and control guidelines and procedures Preferred Qualifications: Connect Care training preferred. Greater than 2 years in acute care medicine, preferred. Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning, preferred.
