Working with the Health, Safety & Wellness (Human Resources) team, the Health & Wellness Advisor will oversee the operational implementation of strategic Health & Wellness initiatives, champion the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace and the Pillars of Wellness across the City or Richmond. This includes overseeing and providing strategic and technical leadership for psychological health and safety and Wellness programming, projects, pilots, and initiatives.
The Advisor collaborates with a variety of internal and external partners to foster Health & Wellness, establish supports and solutions that prevent harm, and improve the wellbeing of all members of the City of Richmond with informed practices grounded in data and in evidence
Key Accountabilities
- Works with leaders and partners using proven and emerging best practices in Health and Wellness to establish strategies and guide programs and projects in alignment with City of Richmond priorities
- Works with various levels of internal stakeholders, including JOHSCs and Mental Health Committees regarding mental health strategies and priorities.
- Identifies critical barriers/issues requiring senior leadership input and/or support and provides recommendations for addressing and resolving barriers.
- Provides expertise on risk identification and assessment, investigations, response, work design, and strength promotion.
- Drives the delivery of Mental Health and Wellness programming, such as EFAP and projects.
- Prepares and facilitates presentations and workshops, in person and virtually.
- Performs needs assessments, environmental scans, and conducts research to identify viable projects, pilots, and initiatives and presents recommendations to leadership.
- Prepares business cases, proposals for knowledge creation and pilots, as well as briefing notes and discussion papers for consideration.
- Oversee WorkSafeBC Mental Disorder, Syndrome, Stress and Presumptive Claims.
- Oversee Attendance Support Program
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with a university degree in psychology, mental health, public health, health sciences, or a related field—or a combination of education, training, and experience that brings the right expertise. An advanced degree or certification, such as the CMHA Psychological Health and Safety Professional Certificate, CIP, or CCMP, would be a great asset.
You’ll bring at least five years of progressively senior experience in health and wellness, along with a strong understanding of psychological health and safety principles.
