Role and Facility Information
The Island Health Hospitalist group at Comox Valley Hospital (CVH) are looking for new team members to join us in our beautiful community on Vancouver Island. Come work in a place where you can ski, kayak, mountain bike, golf, climb and hike on your time off.
We are a supportive group of approximately 10-15 members who strive to provide comprehensive care in our lovely 153 bed hospital.
We work collaboratively with an excellent network of clinicians including specialists, rehabilitation staff, and nursing. Each physician provides care for approximately 15 patients. This includes being MRP for a diversity of medical patients, supervising care for our Low Intensity Rehab Unit patients, and consulting for specialists.
We are looking for full time, part time and locum members. We currently staff 3 day lines (0800-1700) and 1 night line (1700-0800) but are looking to expand to 4-5 day lines. There is significant flexibility in our scheduling, and we support each other to ensure that all members get to work the days/hours they want. Our new contract with Island Health allows for expansion and includes patient work load maximums. Our rates are competitive with other hospitalist contracts on Vancouver Island and British Columbia.

Benefits
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change):
Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
Flat fee: $7,977.42
Fee Premium: 6.93%
CME: Rural CME starting at $2,200/annum in years 3 & 4 in the community, increasing to a maximum of $4,400/annum after 4 years

Scenic Comox Valley is one of the Vancouver Island’s best-kept secrets! It is surrounded by majestic mountains, rushing rivers, lush rain forests, and shimmering seas. The winters are short and mild with warm, dry summers. The Valley includes several communities: Comox (a relaxed seaside town), Courtenay (a bustling urban city), Cumberland (a young and artistic village), and rural areas North and South including the islands of Hornby and Denman.
