Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Safety Oversight

  • Actively promote and reinforce CAM's safety culture, CORE values, and positive field-level safety behaviours.
  • Conduct regular field walks, inspections, audits, and worksite observations across active maintenance areas.
  • Attend start-of-shift meetings and engage directly with crews and supervision on daily work scopes and hazards.
  • Verify compliance with safe work practices, client requirements, permits, procedures, and hazard controls.
  • Review FLHA/PTA quality in the field and coach employees where expectations are not being met.

  • Provide practical HSE coaching to craft personnel, forepersons, and supervisors during maintenance execution.
  • Recognize and reinforce positive safety behaviours, strong hazard recognition, and quality planning practices.

Maintenance Program Support

  • Assist supervision with planning and verification of safe work execution for routine and non-routine maintenance tasks.
  • Support readiness activities associated with upcoming outage or increased maintenance work scopes.
  • Monitor field conditions and provide timely feedback to supervision on recurring risks, barriers, or improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and crew-level communication activities as required.

Incident Response & Investigation Support

  • Respond to incidents, injuries, near misses, and high-potential events as required.
  • Support initial scene control, employee care, evidence preservation, and escalation requirements.
  • Assist with witness statements, investigation notes, photos, permit/PTA/FLHA collection, and related documentation.
  • Support corrective action development, communication, follow-up, and closeout tracking.
  • Assist supervision and leadership with injury management and modified work coordination as required.

Auditing, Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare HSE summaries, reports, and documentation for site leadership as required.
  • Track HSE action items, verify completion, and communicate recurring concerns to site leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial HSE experience, preferably in maintenance, construction, turnaround, or outage environments.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting field audits, inspections, observations, and incident investigations.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence safe work practices in the field.
  • Ability to work independently on dayshift and make sound field-level decisions.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Assets

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation considered a strong asset.
  • Experience supporting petrochemical, oil and gas, refining, industrial manufacturing, or similar high-risk work environments.
  • Previous maintenance, outage, or turnaround support experience.
  • CRSP designation, or progress toward a professional safety designation, considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Dow Chemical safety systems, expectations, and permit-to-work processes considered an asset.
  • Experience with digital safety reporting platforms, action tracking, and field observation tools.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Dayshift schedule on a 4x10s+ rotation, with additional hours as required to support site needs.
  • Must be comfortable working in an active industrial maintenance environment with changing priorities.
  • Role requires frequent walking, field engagement, inspection activity, and interaction with craft, supervision, CAM leadership, client representatives, and subcontractors.
