Disclaimer: Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through a WSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.

The Successful Candidate Will
- Research, develop and plan activities for assigned adapted program(s) that meet the needs of participants and promote engagement and skill development.
- Build and submit completed weekly program plans that are engaging and match the course description. Organize program supplies prior to each class.
- Lead and implement specialized programming, adapt activities and make modifications to program plans as needed throughout the session.
- Act as the main point of contact for parents/guardians. Complete phone calls home prior to the start of each session to discuss participant needs and planned activities.
- Maintain confidential records, including emergency contact information, individual needs and intake forms, behaviour protocols, and health concerns of participants, as well as ensure safe arrival and dismissal of program participants.
- Collaborate with other program staff to discuss program plans, ideas, areas of concern, and participant information (i.e. behaviours, interests, triggers, strategies, etc.), as well as updating Inclusion Facilitators on participant requirements.
- Coach staff and guide them through managing behavioural challenges. Occasionally may involve physical contact with participants (i.e. guidance).
- Communicate with supervisors regarding staff hours, staffing changes and program recommendations.
- Work with facility staff to ensure room is set up properly, and complete hazards checks before participants arrive. Work as a team to ensure space is clean, tidy, and all items are returned to original location upon class completion.
- Respond to emergency situations including performing minor first aid, implementing Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Strategies, and/or arranging for medical assistance.

- 1+ years experience in recreation program delivery.
- Experience with persons with disabilities or unique needs.
- Education in a related field is an asset (ex. Behaviour Science).
- Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
- Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification required.
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification, Behaviour Management Certification, or equivalent.
- Availability/flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
