Perform electrical, electronic and general maintenance duties.

Job Description

Perform the following duties:

• Install and maintain electrical, heating, mechanical, and Fire alarm systems.
• Troubleshoot for faults in electrical, and electronic systems and equipment and repair or replace components.
• Monitor and adjust Microprocessors and Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems.
• Install conduits and maintain other electrical enclosures.
• Carry out general maintenance duties.
• May be required to do custodial duties on a temporary basis.
• Estimate, requisition and/or purchase materials and equipment.
• Calculate elevations by use of a transit.
• Maintain equipment and machinery.
• Maintain records and prepare reports as directed.
• Operate electric and gas welders.
• Operate a motor vehicle.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Requires an Industrial Electrician’s Certificate of Qualification.
• Requires knowledge of electrical/electronic theory, progammable controllers, microprocessors, and microcomputer systems, test equipment and instrumentation.
• Requires knowledge of general building maintenance, provincial construction standards and pertinent government regulations.
• Requires working from ladders and scaffolds and in confined areas.
• Requires reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
• Requires a valid driver’s licence.
• Requires using a variety of power and hand tools and machines.
• Requires communicating effectively and working co-operatively with Board personnel, suppliers and the general public.
