Job Description

UPS is seeking a skilled and safety-focused BaSE Mechanic / Journeyman Millwright to support maintenance operations at our Richmond facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment used in our package handling systems. This role ensures all equipment operates efficiently and safely to support continuous operations.

Location: 5960 Ferguson Road, Richmond, BC

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Wage: $35.00 per hour (Base Rate $30.00/hr. + Hourly Bonus of $5/hr.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical systems including motors, bearings, drive chains, reducers, conveyor belts, and other components.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on AC and DC electrical systems, including motor starters, relays, fuses, switches, photoelectric devices, VFDs, and encoders.
  • Inspect, service, and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems such as diverters, pumps, cylinders, hoses, and lubricators.
  • Conduct welding and fabrication on various facility equipment (e.g., conveyor supports, handrails, carts, grating) as needed.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance routines and inspections to ensure operational integrity of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and follow all UPS safety procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Valid Millwright Journeyman Certification (Certificate of Qualification)
  • Must own essential hand tools and CSA-approved safety footwear
  • Must pass the UPS Building Technician Assessment
  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems, is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety

  • Tool Allowance: $450 (distributed in March)
