Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Leading the planning and delivery of Instrumentation and Control systems designs,
- Developing tailored solutions for clients across industrial, municipal, and transit sectors,
- Ensuring designs and equipment meet customer specifications, industry standards, and codes,
- Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to define instrumentation, control, and process automation requirements,
- Participating in a multi-disciplinary environment in determining the instrumentation, controls, and process automation requirements,
- Preparing studies, reports, and technical memoranda,
- Developing detailed engineering packages and construction documents to represent installation requirements for process control systems and instrumentation,
- Preparing deliverables including Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), riser diagrams, control schematics, loop drawings, control panel layouts, networks and communication diagrams, installation details, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, IO lists and schedules (equipment, instruments, devices, cables, etc.),
- Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all deliverables,
- Conducting field inspections and supporting projects at fabrication sites, installation sites, and client facilities,
- Supporting construction activities, reviewing shop drawings, troubleshooting control systems, and assisting with FAT/SAT testing and commissioning,
- Contributing to proposals and bid preparation
- Proven expertise across all stages of the project lifecycle, from bids to feasibility studies, detailed design, and data analysis,
- Strong professional judgment and commercial expertise, with the ability to assess and manage project issues,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex issues,
- A passion for coaching and mentoring, helping to strengthen team capabilities
- P. Eng. designation with PEO or on track to obtain it soon; additional Provinces would be an asset.
- 5-8+ years of municipal engineering and design experience,
- Extensive knowledge of P&ID drawings, control systems design, networking, fieldbuses, process automation, building automation systems, communication, access, and security systems, CCTV, etc.
- Familiarity with relevant Canadian/North American codes and standards, and able to implement design based on the Client’s specific guidelines.
- Ability to contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from proposals to design activities, and to effectively manage schedules, budgets, and quality in collaboration with project management teams,
- Strong collaboration skills, especially for change management, tendering, and construction support,
- Experience providing engineering consulting services to industrial and municipal clients,
- Proficiency in problem-solving and troubleshooting,
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities,
- Familiarity with industry-standard engineering software,
- Proven track record of exceeding customer and partner expectations, and fulfilling organizational commitments and deliverables,
- Effective communication with subordinates, peers, and leadership
- Knowledge of programming and system integration for Allen-Bradley and Emerson PLC platforms
- Experience with transportation I&C engineering, RNG facilities, and the food and beverage industries
- Familiarity with Revit
