Payworks Payroll Services Canada

Date: 5 hours ago
City: Winnipeg, MB
Contract type: Full time

Doing business to business, person to person. Payworks is a leading workforce management solutions provider and multi-year winner of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. We are proud to be Canadian owned and operated as well as committed to developing world-class products and providing a progressive workplace culture where Doing Right by People is our purpose.

With clients of all sizes from coast to coast and more than 600 employees, we currently have an exciting opportunity on our IT Strategy & Innovation team for the right candidate. Because when it comes to great people, there’s always room for one more.

DOING RIGHT BY PEOPLE – IT’S WHAT WE DO

Payworks develops proprietary, integrated SaaS-based products in the payroll, human resources and time and attendance space. We create, deploy and maintain our own solutions; this requires a talented team of Developers who are excellent critical thinkers, problem solvers and are driven to create products that work better. Individual drive and team collaboration are the keys to success; we feel that exceptional and inventive development comes naturally to teams that are having fun and working together.

We are searching for an Integration Developer to help shape the future of how our systems connect. You will be part of a team focused on designing, building and maintaining APIs and integration solutions that power seamless, real-time connectivity between Payworks’ products and the systems our clients (and teams!) rely on. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will bring a shared vision to life — one where data flows effortlessly and workflows are automated across platforms.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE PAYWORKS

  • Comprehensive employer paid benefits, including a Health Spending Account, for you and your family and excellent pension plan with employer contributions.
  • Plenty of professional development opportunities.
  • Community-minded culture – Receive two paid days per year to volunteer and lots of opportunity to “Pay it Forward”.
  • Time and flexibility to meet your needs – Hybrid work model with flexible work options, plus 3 weeks vacation to start, flex time and parental leave benefits.
  • Cool perks – Annual Lifestyle Spending Account, Costco membership, fun office environment and events, and more!

COLLABORATE & INNOVATE – IT’S WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design, build and implement – You will develop and deploy scalable integration solutions that power automation and eliminate manual effort. From APIs and micro services to custom connectors, you will make our products smarter, faster and more connected.
  • Create seamless experiences – Using platforms like MuleSoft, .NET or custom-built tools, you will implement and manage secure, reliable data exchanges between Payworks systems and third-party platforms (like CRMs or other third-party platforms). Technologies like JSON, REST, SQL and more will enable you to transform data and drive real-time connectivity.
  • Work with a team – We believe that when we work together we become greater than the sum of our parts. You will collaborate, create, learn and grow alongside the rest of our talented team. Collaborating with the business analysts, architects and other stakeholders, you will gather and translate integration needs into clear technical solutions.
  • Support what you build – You will monitor and maintain integrations, troubleshoot performance issues, and resolve system errors or data discrepancies. Documenting your work, you will maintain data flow diagrams, interface specs and support guides.
  • Keep learning and growing – You will participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and team discussions. Stay up to date with the latest integration tools, trends and best practices — and share what you learn to help us all grow.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Post-Secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Approximately 3 years of experience in integration development or a related role.
  • Strong experience with REST and SOAP APIs, as well as data formats like JSON and XML.
  • Familiarity with messaging protocols, including JMS and AMQP.
  • Experience using Postman, RAML, Swagger or other API design tools.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages such as DataWeave, Java, C#, Python or JavaScript.
  • Experience with integration platforms (iPaaS or ESB) including MuleSoft, Dell Boomi or Azure Integration Services.
  • Comfort working with CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git).
  • A good grasp of integration security best practices and governance principles, including OAuth2 and data privacy regulations like PIPEDA, and the ability to recommend and implement API security best practices.
  • Knowledge of B2B integrations and integrating with SaaS applications.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and transform broad ideas into high-quality, actionable solutions.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the drive to deliver meaningful work independently or collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively, prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Sharp problem-solving and critical thinking skills, especially when responding to technical issues or system errors.
  • Clear, confident communication skills — both written and verbal — with a knack for engaging stakeholders from technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • A detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality, performance and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms is an asset.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with software such as Jira and Confluence is an asset.

We are proud to support a Flexible Work Plan that recognizes the diverse needs and lifestyles of our people. The Integration Developer has the option to work fully from a Payworks office or on a hybrid work model, working in the office at least three (3) days a week. This role may require participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
