Black Diamond Group is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Intermediate Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team at our Calgary Head Office.

This is a full-time, hybrid position, offering approximately 20% flexibility to work from home.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounting, the Intermediate Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of corporate accounting functions in accordance with IFRS standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other members of the corporate accounting team and contribute to the ongoing integrity of our financial reporting.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a meticulous person with a solid understanding of accounting principles who enjoys working in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversees consolidation accounting functions including ensuring month-end accounting processes are followed and results comply with the company's accounting policies.
  • Conducts analytical review of corporate reconciliations and lead sheets.
  • Active involvement in reporting and reconciliations on fixed assets, capital expenditures and capital management.
  • Review and analyze monthly corporate journal entries in SAP for posting.
  • Preparation of various balance sheet reconciliations and consolidated balance sheet working papers including PPE, Goodwill, Intangibles and AR
  • Prepare variance analysis for Corporate SG&A Expenses
  • Preparation of quarterly depreciation forecast
  • Liaison with Financial reporting and the Business Unit accounting teams to provide accurate information for external financial reports.
  • Ensuring proper adherence to all administrative and operational processes, procedures and policies in relation to corporate accounting functions; Support the vendor additions and modification process for North America.
  • Regularly offers process improvement ideas, shares best practices and facilitates standardization among divisions.
  • Support Senior Leadership with special projects.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA, or working towards is considered a strong asset
  • Proven ability to work across organizations with effective communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Strong MS Excel skills and proven ability to work in ERP systems
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a deadline-conscious, results-driven environment
  • Organized, with an excellent ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects at a time
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve and practice good judgement
  • Must be fluent in English, both oral and written
