Value Partners Investments (“VPI”) is a Winnipeg-based investment firm that currently manages approximately $7 billion through retail mutual funds (Value Partners Pools - “Pools”), which are distributed through investment dealers and mutual fund dealers across Canada, as well as through an investment counsel service (Value Partners Investment Counsel - “VPIC”) that provides discretionary wealth management services. Value Partners is currently registered as an investment fund manager, portfolio manager and exempt market dealer.

Canada Life is seeking an Intermediate Data Analyst to join the Value Partners team. In this role, you will transform data into actionable insights that support business decision-making and operational effectiveness. Through analytics, reporting, and visualization, you will help business stakeholders better understand performance, identify opportunities, and make informed decisions.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with business partners, technical teams, and data experts while supporting a growing data-driven culture. Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, expertise in business intelligence tools, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights for a variety of audiences.
As part of your onboarding and ongoing development, you will gain an understanding of Value Partners' organizational structure, advisor and client relationships, products and services, and the broader financial services industry. You will contribute to solutions that support business priorities, strategic objectives, and organizational success.

What You Will Do
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into meaningful analytics, visualizations, and reporting solutions
- Act as a key liaison between business and technical teams, translating complex requirements into effective reporting and analytics solutions
- Develop, enhance, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI
- Analyze data to identify trends, uncover insights, and support informed business decisions
- Lead the definition, documentation, and maintenance of key business metrics used across the organization
- Collaborate with technical partners, including data architecture teams, to design and develop data models that support reporting and business requirements
- Support the full reporting lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, validation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data presented in reports and dashboards
- Write and maintain queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources
- Train and support users on the effective use and adoption of reporting and visualization tools, including Power BI
- Present data-driven insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Develop a strong understanding of Value Partners' business model, products, advisor relationships, and service offerings to effectively support reporting and analytics needs
- Contribute to the organization's business intelligence strategy and initiatives leveraging Microsoft Fabric
- Support organizational objectives by aligning reporting solutions with business priorities, strategic initiatives, and company values
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data accessibility, and user experience
- Diploma or degree in Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2–3 years of experience working with business intelligence and data visualization tools, including strong expertise in Microsoft Power BI
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for business audiences
- Strong knowledge of Power BI, including DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M)
- Hands-on experience working with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau
- Experience querying and analyzing data using SQL
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or related Microsoft data and analytics technologies is considered an asset
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or R is considered an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and generate actionable insights
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences
- High attention to detail and a commitment to data quality and accuracy
- Strong organizational, time management, and adaptability skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification is considered an asset
