Our head office and shop is located in the beautiful Fraser Valley, just an hour east of our Vancouver office, and close to the growing Abbotsford airport. Our US office is located in Seattle, WA and European office in Trento, Italy.

Reporting to the BIM Manager, the Intermediate Structural BIM Modelling Technician is responsible to work within StructureCraft’s Engineering and Digital modelling teams, providing BIM services and structural drafting support for pre-construction activities and construction projects. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work intimately with our project teams through the design phase on a wide range of projects and will help to shape the future of the company in this role!

Your Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with Engineers to develop 3D structural models to produce quality construction drawings using BIM technologies.
  • Responsible for the creation of new models and the quality of BIM deliverables.
  • Work closely with Engineers and the Digital modelling team to identify needs and plan for model integration.
  • Demonstrate accountability to the project team across all departments.
  • Collaborate and coordinate internally or externally with other disciplines design and model changes.
  • Continual improvement of modelling & drafting process to improve efficiency and reduce design cycle times.
  • Implement BIM drafting standards to maintain consistency across all structural models and 2D drawings.
  • Manage and prioritize tasks to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Maintain and grow construction industry technical knowledge.

Position Requirements

  • Structural/Architectural technology diploma/certificate, Architecture degree, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of BIM modelling experience in the AEC industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Revit with direct experience using prior versions.
  • Experience with collaboration solutions such as BIM 360 Model coordination, BIM 360 Design.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam.
  • Passion for BIM technologies with ability to promote these technologies and practices to increase user effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo scripting and effective implementation in the BIM environment considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing BIM Standards considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and a good understanding of the English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic and effective time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload.
  • Dependable and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and eye for design.
  • Knowledge of building science and construction techniques.
  • Able to recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Timber design & detailing considered an asset.
  • Team player, able to prioritize tasks with exceptional organizational skills.
  • A desire to learn and continually develop.
  • Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills.

Position terms and conditions

This is a permanent full-time position. This position will be based full time out of our head office in Abbotsford, BC.

We offer a benefits package that includes 3 weeks vacation, extended medical, life insurance, disability insurance, and a matching RRSP program after 2 years of employment.

The Pay Range For This Role Is

63,000 - 78,000 CAD per year(Abbotsford Head Office)
