Overview:

The Ktunaxa Nation Council has an opportunity for IT Administrative Assistant in Cranbrook BC. Reporting to the IT Manager, this position is responsible for providing day‑to‑day technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of organizational systems. This role manages user accounts and access controls, performs password resets, and supports onboarding and offboarding processes. The administrator responds to support calls, troubleshoots hardware and software issues, and creates tickets to track each request through resolution. They maintain accurate and up‑to‑date technical documentation, including process guides, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations, to support consistent service delivery. In addition, assisting in software updates, asset tracking, contributing to a reliable and secure IT environment while delivering professional, user‑focused support. for the service/helpdesk administration front-line support. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners.


This is a full-time permanent position with full benefits. Salary Range: $54,340 - $62,324


Key Responsibilities:

Operations and Support

  • Provides technical support to end users, troubleshoots user issues, and/or guides them through specific tasks and actions.
  • Monitor, receive, and respond to help desk calls and messages in a timely manner.
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices.
  • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouse, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and hardware according to specifications.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users regarding the operation of new software and computer equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.).
  • Identify computer equipment shortages.
  • Provide hardware and software support to users at multiple locations.
  • This position does require some travel as we provide limited support to our communities.


Maintenance


  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Configure/add new services as necessary.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.

  • Certification as IT Technician (Microsoft Certified IT Professional), Diploma an asset, some ability to follow technical documents.
  • Limited information technology experience. Proven experience in Customer Service.
  • Background that includes working with a variety of computer systems, applications and current processing environments, including solving problems quickly and cost-effectively.
  • Multitask in the system while patiently providing step-by-step instructions.
  • Effortlessly engage with employees, actively listen, analyze, and isolate issues.
  • Basic knowledge of diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in an interruptive environment; time management.
  • The communication skills needed to translate complex technical information into terms that can be easily understood.
  • Deliver training to employees on the operations and functionality of various applications, printers, and systems.
  • Ongoing professional development (learning) will be required. 
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
