The Role
This position provides support to students, faculty and staff at Northwestern Polytechnics HEC campus (including NAMP programs). They would be responsible for supporting technology in classrooms, labs, offices, and meeting rooms for computers, printers, video conferencing, Sim-labs, and associated software. Although there is a prioritization to support ongoing classes in HEC they are expected to provide service to other areas.
The primary responsibilities of this role include :
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot technology in classrooms and meeting rooms; this includes control systems, computers, TV’s, video conferencing devices, etc.
- Provide timely and hands on support during classes and meetings.
- Provide support to faculty for vodcasting and publishing of lectures for students.
- Maintain an inventory of devices with current locations.
- Provide technical support for students, faculty and staff with NWP equipment laptops, computers, and cell phones.
- Testing, implementing, and deploying new hardware, firmware, software, and security updates, ensuring proper functionality.
- Coordinate with IT HelpDesk to perform office moves / adds / changes.
- Providing out of town support for external NWP campuses/locations such as Fairview, Beaverlodge and the occasional need to travel to them.
- Assisting with configuration and support for Simlabs and other medical equipment as needed. Coordinate with Labtech at HEC.
- Staying updated with evolving technologies relevant to the program, enhancing technical certification and education as needed.
- As a member of the Information Technology Department, this position may also be assigned one or more of the below areas: Printers, including print servers and print tracking software, SCCM / Intune application deployment ,ABTutor Administration
- Review and provide suggestions to department policies and procedures.
- Research relevant emerging technologies.
- Collaborating with technicians from multiple locations, participating in working groups to stay informed, and assisting in troubleshooting.
- Travel to other campuses as required.
Job Requirements:
Salary Level D
The successful candidate will have a two-year diploma in Computer Systems Technology, or equivalent and 2 years of experience in a related field. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
- Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems
- Microsoft Active Directory & Tools
- Scripting & programming languages and tools
- Microsoft 365 (Intune/Endpoint administration)
- Microsoft Office Professional
- Video editing
- AntiVirus Solutions
- Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager
- Extron/Crestron configuration and other classroom control systems.
- Video conferencing, such as Vaddio and Polycom
- Many other software packages that specialized and
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to build strong relationships across the organization;
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; and
- A high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
