Allnorth is a multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery, and construction services company. We provide smart and practical project solutions to clients in the metals and minerals, energy and renewables, fiber and chemicals, and infrastructure sectors. With offices across Canada, and into the US and Mexico, we continue to grow!

Our team is our most valuable asset, and a triple bottom line (TBL) philosophy is at the heart of our business. It takes a talented, motivated and empowered team to delight our clients, driving profitability for all parties. When it comes to guiding principles, safety is part of our DNA, we are committed to building and nurturing Indigenous relationships, we support our communities, and we recognize the importance of environmental stewardship.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our Prince George division is seeking a Junior Civil Designer/Technologist to join our team. Under the direction and training of senior staff, the successful candidate will assist with producing general arrangements, layout and detail drawings while adhering to company procedures, engineering criteria, design standards and applicable codes. You will work using AutoCAD and Civil3D and interface regularly with other disciplines, vendors and customers. Secondary duties may include surveying, material testing and site inspections.

A Day in the Life

As the successful candidate you will be responsible for producing infrastructure (bridge, road, site) layout and detail design drawings, while adhering to company procedures, engineering criteria, design standards and applicable codes. You will work using Civil 3D, and potentially AutoCAD, while interfacing regularly with others in the company. Occasional field visits to site may be required to support our construction services group in peak periods. You will have a solid commitment to fostering and maintaining strong relationships with our clients.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Diploma of Technology in a civil program;
  • 2-8 years of design experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as layout and as-built experience
  • Experienced in some but not necessarily all of the following: general arrangement bridge designs, structural bridge designs, resources/MOTI road designs, civil site plans, drainage designs, land development, or transportation design; earthworks modelling and volume calculations; reduction of as-built and topographic survey data; drone data processing;
  • Knowledgeable in preparation of conceptual and final grading, servicing and road design;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with civil construction and/or survey experience;
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplinary environment;
  • Membership with ASTTBC would be an asset, but not necessarily needed given appropriate experience;
  • Good organizational skills, technical competence and strong attention to detail.
  • Enjoys learning a variety of tasks while working with a highly motivated, knowledgeable group of people.
What’s in it for you?

We believe that a happy and fulfilled team leads to exceptional results, which is why we offer a range of perks designed to support your well-being, career growth and community engagement.

  • Work schedule and location are flexible, allowing for better work-life balance

  • Employee Assistance Program for team members and their families
  • A culture of respect and inclusivity fosters long term relationships and a team atmosphere
  • Professional development and growth opportunities
  • Team Member Referral Program
  • A paid “Volunteer Day” away from work to support the community
  • Monthly “Lunch & Learn” sessions
  • Opportunities to bond with other team members, have fun and make a difference through involvement in social and safety committees, as well as fundraising and community support initiatives (e.g. Movember, Pi Day, Food Banks, Women’s Shelters, Ronald McDonald House, Earth Day clean ups, etc.).
