About The Opportunity

Join our Finance Systems & Reporting team in a full-time Systems and Reporting Analyst role! We're seeking someone to assist with monthly reporting, report development, process improvement projects, and database maintenance tasks. In this role, you'll collaborate with various teams across NSH Finance and Operations to develop and support analytical tools tailored to meet the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders. Your work will positively impact Finance operations by enhancing existing functions and providing valuable new insights into NSH operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in Database Design, Report Development, Process Optimization, and Data Analytics. This role requires on-site presence at the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax NS.

As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing, deploying, and maintaining new analytical tools.
  • Working on reporting projects, including Tableau dashboards and Excel reports.
  • Assisting with day-to-day tasks such as extracting data from SAP and other systems, enriching existing datasets, distributing reports, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives by advocating for structured datasets, adopting new data management tools, and critically evaluating Finance operations.
  • Creating documentation on existing procedures, new projects, and areas for improvement.
  • Assisting with other projects as needed.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • A post-secondary degree in Computer Science (with an interest in Finance) or Commerce (with a passion for Programming and Data Analytics)
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office software suite, particularly MS Excel (including formula syntax, pivot tables, and other functionalities)
  • An understanding of basic Finance concepts and performance indicators
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills
  • The ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with team members and stakeholders
  • The ability to take ownership of projects and to learn and work independently
  • Understanding of Database Design and SQL
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio, MS Access, or similar database software
  • Working knowledge of Visual Basic for MS Excel (or an equivalent programming language)
  • Experience with Tableau products (Tableau Desktop, Prep, Server) for report development (or equivalent visualization experience)
  • Experience with Data Management (ETL tasks, organizing and combining data, and sharing information)

Experience With These Items Would Also Be An Asset

  • Process automation with Python
  • Knowledge of SAP, SAP reporting, and data extraction functionality (or equivalent ERP experience)
  • Experience with Health Information Systems such as STAR and Meditech
