The Maintenance Supervisor is the primary contact for Operations Services in the School system and is responsible for a group of schools within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE). Within the assigned schools, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for building safety including fire life safety systems, security systems, hazard assessments, emergency response, regulatory and environmental systems. The Maintenance Supervisor supports all aspects of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, infrastructure, preventative maintenance, small capital projects and accessibility.
The Maintenance Supervisor is integral in the development of best work practices, and consistent application of quality assurance standards, building code and construction standard for the HRCE. They will maintain current knowledge of technical information pertaining to schools, department along with HRCE policies and procedures including trades qualification and requirement, occupational health and safety, personnel, attendance, work routines, WHMIS and collective agreement.
The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager, and must communicate regularly with School-based staff, department leaders and regulatory manager to ensure Operations Services responsibilities are met in support of school programming.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a college or university program in a discipline related to the operation and/or maintenance of facilities (i.e. Journeyperson Certification) , C.E.F.P (Certified Education Facilities Professional) P.M.P (Project Management Professional), or equivalent training and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years experience working in the operations and/or maintenance of facilities.
- Minimum five (5) years experience supervising 10 plus employees in a maintenance environment.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office programs including - Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and excellent driving record. Access to and ability to operate a reliable vehicle to travel between assigned schools.
Salary:
This is a PEG (Professional Employees Group) position classified on the Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework at Band 6 with a salary range between $59,340.06 to $74,174.88.
