We are currently seeking a permanent part-time (0.70 FTE) Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Support Worker to join our Mental Health Tertiary Rehabilitation team in Kamloops, B.C.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation principles and is skilled in supporting individuals experiencing mental health, behavioural, and developmental challenges to build independence and meaningful life skills. The MHSU Support Worker is someone confident in providing hands-on coaching, advocacy, and practical support ranging from daily living activities to relapse prevention, community integration, and employment readiness while respecting each client’s unique strengths, goals, and choices.

This individual communicates effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributes thoughtfully to care planning, and demonstrates sound judgment in monitoring client progress, responding to emerging needs, and preventing crises. A proactive and empathetic approach, combined with strong organizational skills and knowledge of community resources, allows them to foster client empowerment, support sustainable growth, and deliver services that promote dignity, inclusion, and long-term wellbeing.

What will you work on?

The MH&SU Support Worker helps clients build everyday life skills by providing practical support, coaching, advocacy, and information, all guided by an established care plan. As part of a team, the MHSU Support Worker focus on helping individuals develop skills like relapse prevention, adjusting to community life, and preparing for employment. The team approach is rooted in recovery and respect supporting each person’s strengths, goals, and choices while encouraging independence across areas like home life, education, leisure, and work. The MHSU Support Worker works alongside clients to break goals into manageable steps and support progress over time.

The MHSU Support Worker also keep track of how clients are doing, help prevent potential crises, and share updates with the care team, including any concerns such as reactions to medication. In addition, the MH&SU Support Worker helps organize and run programs like clubhouses, supportive housing, and vocational supports, ensuring clients have opportunities to build skills, connect with others, and move toward greater independence.

Scheduling Information

Shift types are days, evenings and nights. Shift times are from 08:00 to 20:00, 20:00 to 08:00 hours.
