The Mobile Facilities Technician will play a key role in maintaining the operational integrity and safety of designated locations, supporting the customer service experience across multiple BC Hydro and Black & McDonald sites between Mackenzie to Fort St John and Fort Nelson. This position is responsible for attending service calls, conducting building inspections, initiating corrective work orders, performing light preventive maintenance (PMs), and coordinating with external service providers (Suppliers). The technician acts as a liaison between Black & McDonald and BC Hydro District Office Managers, ensuring timely and effective resolution of facilities-related issues using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Required

The Mobile Technician will support the coordination of preventative maintenance tasks and inspections for all building systems and services, and corrective repairs as required to ensure continued availability of the building spaces. The Mobile Technician will use their experience and technical skills along with our CMMS system to support our high levels of service and customer satisfaction. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • A service ambassador for Black & McDonald working in partnership with BC Hydro Properties Management division
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships
  • In conjunction with the Facility Manager and the team, plan and execute planned and corrective maintenance tasks
  • Organize and plan work to meet schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other suppliers
  • Oversee site maintenance and repair activities of Suppliers and Vendors
  • Complete periodic site maintenance, and identify repairs needed and initiate corrective Work Orders for the repair activities
  • Perform operational inspections, safety inspections, site condition inspections
  • Respond to work orders, ensuring the correct assets are tagged in work completed.
  • Perform light duties such as building inspections, garbage removal, snow removal, heating venting air condition, Plumbing, and other Mechanical duties, assisting the supplier’s technician’s, mechanics, etc.
  • Support site visitations where required to meet suppliers who are asked to quote on work
  • Assist in Regional Planning and coordination of seasonal activities, PMs, and repairs
  • Ensure service reports are completed for B&M tasks along with supplier service reports entered.
  • Review work in progress for areas of risk. Report and correct any site hazards or safety related matters

Education Requirements

  • 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering or construction trade certification in plumbing/HVAC/Electrical is an asset

Work Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities management/mechanical/electrical service industry
  • Knowledge and experience in building automated systems, Plumbing, Electrical & HVAC systems

Skills, Abilities, And Other Requirements

  • Available to travel within the assigned region (Mackenzie to Fort Nelson and Fort St John)
  • Available for on call standby duties and emergency out of hours call outs
  • Clean Class 5 or higher BC Driver’s License and Abstract
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to complete work in a timely manner
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times with fellow employees and customers
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check

Expected compensation for this role is a starting pay range between $33.51-$35.51/hour dependent on skills and experience.
