Obstetrician/Gynecologist

Position Summary

Southern Health–Santé Sud (SH‑SS) is seeking a full‑time General Obstetrician/Gynecologist for a 12‑month term at Boundary Trails Health Centre in Winkler, Manitoba. Start date is flexible, and there is potential for ongoing full‑time employment following the term.

You will join a collaborative team of four General OBGYNs in a busy, well‑supported clinical and hospital environment. The role includes both office‑based practice and interdisciplinary hospital care.

Call Responsibilities

  • 1 in 6 home call , shared with OBGYNs and Family Physician Obstetricians
  • Coverage for Boundary Trails Health Centre and Southern Health–Santé Sud
  • Supported by FP‑OBs with C‑section capability, midwives, and family physicians who manage their own low‑risk patients

About Boundary Trails Health Centre

BTHC delivers approximately 1,000 babies per year, caring for patients 36+ weeks gestation. The site offers a strong, integrated maternity care model with excellent interdisciplinary support.

Hospital Services Include

  • 3‑bed obstetrical triage for inductions, NSTs, and pregnancy concerns (20+ weeks)
  • Obstetrical nursing staff trained in NRP
  • 7 Labour & Delivery rooms, plus antepartum, postpartum, and postoperative recovery spaces
  • 24‑hour epidural availability (Family Physician Anesthesia)
  • 24/7 operating room access for emergencies
  • On‑call Pediatric services
  • Hospitalist support
  • Special Care Unit
  • On‑site diagnostics, including daytime fetal assessments
  • General Gynecology OR time: 1–2 slates per month, equitably shared, with scramble time available
  • Affiliation with the University of Manitoba, with resident involvement and teaching opportunities

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine with postgraduate training in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada
  • Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba
  • CMPA membership (or equivalent malpractice coverage)
  • Current NRP certification (Fetal Health Surveillance encouraged but not required)
  • Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the role
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional conduct
  • Strong work and attendance record

Conditions of Employment

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Access to an all‑purpose insured vehicle with minimum $1,000,000 liability coverage
