Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Painter to join our Maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing a variety of interior and exterior painting projects while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. In addition to painting, this role includes drywall repair, taping, surface preparation, and ensuring work areas are clean, safe, and organized.

This position requires someone who takes pride in their work, is self-motivated, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by washing walls, patching and repairing drywall, sanding, scraping, and removing old paint or wallpaper as required.
  • Mix, match, and apply paints, stains, primers, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and other surfaces.
  • Complete drywall repairs, mudding, taping, sanding, and finishing to ensure a smooth paint-ready surface.
  • Plan and organize painting projects efficiently, ensuring materials and equipment are ready before work begins.
  • Protect surrounding areas by covering furniture, floors, and fixtures with drop cloths or plastic sheeting.
  • Move furniture and other obstacles as required and return all items to their original locations upon completion.
  • Remove and reinstall fixtures such as switch plates, outlet covers, and doorknobs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout each project and perform a thorough cleanup upon completion.
  • Complete maintenance requests and work orders accurately using the company's work order management system.
  • Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools and ensure equipment is kept in good working condition.
  • Use a smartphone or mobile device to communicate, document completed work, and update work orders and purchase requests.
  • Monitor inventory levels of paint, supplies, and equipment and report replenishment needs.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Assist with other maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Work occasional evenings or weekends when operational requirements demand.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of painting experience in residential, commercial, or maintenance environments.
  • Experience with drywall repair, taping, mudding, and finishing is considered a strong asset.
  • Trade certification or Journeyperson Painter designation is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 kg (110 lbs).
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
