We are looking for our next Production Operator – Pea Feed within our Production team. The Operator is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality production by operating and monitoring industrial processes and equipment. This role contributes directly to daily KPI performance (safety, quality, productivity) and supports continuous improvement initiatives driven by Production leadership.
This position is a 6-month fixed term located in Portage la Prairie, MB.

We are looking for our next Production Operator – Pea Feed within our Production team. The Operator is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality production by operating and monitoring industrial processes and equipment. This role contributes directly to daily KPI performance (safety, quality, productivity) and supports continuous improvement initiatives driven by Production leadership.
This position is a 6-month fixed term located in Portage la Prairie, MB.
What You’ll Do:
- Operate and monitor production processes via HMI systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations
- Own daily shift performance across safety, productivity, and quality KPIs
- Execute shift handovers with clear, accurate communication of operational status and issues
- Apply and enforce safety standards including LOTO, confined space, work permits, and hazard identification
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards
- Perform in-process sampling and analysis, and coordinate QC sample submissions
- Diagnose process issues, troubleshoot equipment, and escalate anomalies to the Shift Supervisor
- Perform autonomous and basic maintenance tasks, and create SAP work notifications as required
- Support safe maintenance execution, including risk assessments and permit controls
- Maintain housekeeping standards, including workshop cleaning and sanitation schedules
- Execute chemical cleaning-in-place (CIP) in compliance with safety and quality standards
- Document production activities (e.g., production declarations, process orders, digital logs)
- Participate in continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
- Contribute to incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Support onboarding and training of new team members
- Engage in daily performance and safety meetings to share operational insights
Specific Accountabilities:
Ensure safe and efficient operation of:
- Evaporators (MVR & GHE)
- Pea cream and feed loadout systems
- Ring Dryer (Pea Feed Dryer)
- Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO)
- Basic chemistry processes
- Chemical Cleaning-in-Place (CIP)
- Forklifts and pallet jacks
What You’ll Need:
Education:
- Grade 12 diploma or GED
Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years in industrial manufacturing (food processing or oil & gas preferred)
- Experience with:
- Separation and filtration processes
- Drying systems (natural gas or steam)
- Evaporation or distillation processes
- Water treatment systems
- Food safety, GMP

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Familiarity with process control systems
Work Environment:
- Industrial plant environment with outdoor exposure and seasonal conditions
- Regular exposure to dust, fumes, noise, humidity, and temperature extremes
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, and working at heights
- Use of PPE, including respirators, harnesses, and chemical protection gear
- Exposure to chemicals (acids, alkalis, cleaning agents) at varying temperatures
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
- Fixed Term - 6 months
- 12 hour rotating shifts
- Requires shift work, extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overtime based on production needs
